Concrete Cutting And Coring
Coring in existing concrete structures is often required when the existing concrete quality is to be determined or when it is doubtful.
An estimated actual cube strength of the concrete structure, fact can be determined by
fact = (D x fcore)/(1.5 + 1/l)
D = 2.3 or 2.5 depending on the direction of coring relative to that of casting;
l = length/diameter ratio of the core tested;
fcore = measured strength of the core with a length/diameter ratio of l
Coring can also be done when holes are needed in existing concrete to house utilities such as pipes or electrical cables.
